3 yr old kid identifying carnatic raagas

I just came across this video of this 3 yr old cute little kid 'Prachotan' with amazing memory power and an excellent carnatic music potential.

At this very young age, this little prodigy is able to identify many carnatic music raagas.
Look at thim saying the names of all the talams, jathis, 72 melakarta names..it's really awesome.

He has also got the award of achievement in Limca book of records .
Hope to see him as a great musician in future. ! All the Best Prachotan !

'Yashomati maiya se bole nandalala' is a famous Lord Krishna song where Lord Krishna asks his mom why he has a dark complexion and Radha , his lady love is fair.
I still remember my childhood days where this song was played in Krishna temple nearby every morning.
This song was in the movie 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' released in 1978 and the music director was by the famous legend, LaxmiKanth Pyare Lal.

Little Krishna asks mother Yashoda, "Why is Radha fair while I am dark?"
Mother Yashoda smiled n told little Krishna, "You were born on a dark, stormy midnight. My beloved little Krishna has a black flute. Hence he is dark"
Little Krishna asks his mother Yashoda, "Why is Radha fair while I am dark?"
Mother Yashoda smiled n said, "listen my dear, the fair Radhika (Radha) has dark eyes. The eyed one has bewitched u hence u r dark"

Maa Yashoda tells little Lord Krishna he's dark because of the jadu of the Kali Nainowali (the dark-eyed Radhika). Krishna, being Consciousness personified, is ever enchanted with Radha (who is material existence and shakti personified). Our existence is filled with color, but all know that all colors combined create black. In the same way, the shining Radha is the light that reveals Consciousness to be one, solid, unchanging, beautiful color.

The Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival is the largest Indian classical music festival outside of India. It was first celebrated in 1978 and has now grown to be an 11-day festival with more than 8,000 attendees with 2,000 appearing for the opening weekend. The year 2012 is the Festival's 35^th year.

Dr. Nirmala Sundarajan who was felicitated at the 35th Annual Tyagaraja festival in Cleveland Ohio, on April 7, 2012 will be giving a thematic performance "Ode to Vishnu" in New Jersey on April 22, 2012.

This chamber music concert will take place at the historic Bethel, a pavilion erected in 1873 in Mount Tabor, (Morris county), New Jersey, a town that has beckoned artists like Arlo Guthrie to perform at its legendary Tabernacle. She will be accompanied on the mridangam by Dhamodharan Srinivasan and on the violin by Ravi Srinivasan, both of whom reside in New Jersey.

The concert is organized for family, friends, music aficionados and students who would like to partake of this joyous tradition that is both a fine art and a soul-filling experience.

The incredibly talented Violinist BalaBhaskar is in town , and has already created quite a sensation in NJ. If you haven't still haven't gotten a chance to watch him perform live- it isn't too late! We have organized a show for this Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Franklin Township Hall (Community/Senior Center, 505 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873-6704) from 7pm-10pm.

Tickets are priced at $15 per person and kids below the age of 12 watch free! Tickets are available online and also in the Auditorium.
Not many of us were aware of these programs and unfortunately, have missed out on the opportunity to be entertained, and to get the younger generation to be inspired to achieve more.

Thanks to all my students, my 2 year old learnt few slokas and surprised all of us by singing the nottuswaram 'santhatham pahimam' which my daughter Shreya Swamy performed on stage (check the above video). I guess he will be one of the participants to perform in the next Vijayadhwani annual day :)
